Pilates also has a special advantage of being slow moving and focused and therefore meditative in it’s working. By using controlled breathing the brain slows down, heart rate decreases and stress releases. By learning to relax certain muscles while working others one can easily reduce tension in affected areas. This can help in fighting local pain, headaches, panic attacks and general anxiety. The coupling of work and release during a training results in stress reduction for the mind and musculature, leaving the practitioner refreshed and re-vitalized.
